“Dr. Desai, from the moment I walked in to check in with receptionist to the moment I walked out after my first appointment with Dr. Desai, I felt comfortable, and most importantly I felt heard by Dr. Desai. She genuinely wants to help. She also higly recommends Genesight testing, which basically helps her determine which medication(s) my body will respond to the best. Will review results with her next appointment. Most doctors will just throw medications at you, Dr. Desai won't. I'm looking forward to reviewing the test results and getting on track to better my mental health.”

“HIPAA violation, poor communication, & dangerous practices for patient care. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Desai's for 1.5–2 years, and the lateness policy and office communication have been ongoing issues. At my most recent appointment, I arrived five minutes late and was already in the office. The staff asked the provider if she would still see me but said another patient was coming, so my appointment was cancelled. During this interaction, another staff member in the background began speaking harshly about the lateness policy, even though I wasn’t talking with them directly. Within about four minutes of my appointment time, my card on file was charged $104 for a no-show fee, without a phone call or any attempt to contact me first, despite the fact that I arrived 2 minutes later, was physically present and trying to attend the appointment. What’s especially disappointing is that this is a psychiatric practice serving many patients with ADHD and other mood disorders, yet the staff showed very little understanding or respect in how the situation was handled. Policies are understandable, but charging a large fee almost immediately with no grace period and poor communication feels excessive and unprofessional, especially after being a patient for nearly two years. Update 6/25/26: I recommend documenting your interactions with this practice. On the last visit I had with Dr. Desai, she took time out of my medication management appointment for me to "hear her response" and "how my review made her feel". Very unprofessional. She also said "I want you to know that it won't hurt my feelings if you decide to see a different psychiatrist". However, no discussion was had about me being "terminated" as a patient. I tried to log onto the portal later that week to request my records and was unable to access my account. Dr. Desai terminated my account SO quickly with no notice and no ability to send a message when she was still my provider. Despite me requesting my medical records for continuity of care on 3/26/26 via email and phone, and my psychiatrist also requesting my records, it's currently 6/25/26 and I have yet to receive my OWN medical records. With no response, I had to file complaints with the State Medical Board of Ohio, Ohio Attorney General's Office, and dispute debt collection from an agency she sent less than 30 days after the disputed "debt" was owed. Under HIPAA, patients have the right to access their medical records within 30 days of a request, and providers are required to respond in a timely manner. The lack of response and delay impedes me from continuing care with a new psychiatric provider, affecting continuity of treatment, which is especially dangerous to patients prescribed controlled substances. It's important that you trust the provider you receive psychiatric services from. I have never dealt with a practice so unprofessional and with so many red flags. There are so many other options in the Akron/Cleveland and surrounding areas that provide a level of quality care I haven't found here.”
