What patients say on Google

“I normally do not leave reviews, but I believe this experience is worth sharing. My issue is not my doctor, she is absolutely wonderful and I’ve been seeing her for several years now. My issue is the company itself. My insurance changed about a year ago. I am under my mom’s insurance. I am unemployed due to mental health reasons. My psychiatrist moved to a different office, I continued seeing her there. Then that office was closing their psychiatric unit, so she moved back to this office. I had two previous appointments with her. Then I get a hefty bill in the mail. I was confused, because the only bill I would receive is the co-pay, which was never that much. My mom and I figured insurance hadn’t covered their portion yet and left it alone. My third appointment was coming up, and I receive a call a day before the appointment. Front desk tells me that they do not accept my insurance and I am under self-pay. I should have been told the company did not accept my insurance the FIRST appointment. Because payment of a $400+ bill was not made due time, it was sent to collections. When I called to try to sort this out, get answers as to why I was not told my insurance wasn’t accepted by the first appointment, I kept getting transferred to other people, who also did not help. They only told me the costs of each appointment and that a certain amount was sent to collections. I adore my psychiatrist. I’ve seen her since I was a teenager and I am an adult now. I will never have anything negative to say about her. Though the lack of communication on the company’s end is absolutely irresponsible and unprofessional.”

“When I sat down in Benaknin's office, in a pleasant voice, I explained that I was feeling irritated today. He then stated "I'm going to have to end this session, as I do not feel safe around you." He stated he does not want to treat me. A 58-year-old grandmother, unthreatening behavior. He walked me back to reception, all the while on my right side. He offered to get me in with another doctor. I declined and left with my head down, very confused about what just happened. Strange man.”

“So, when I started here I didn't mind it - it was close to my place of residency and I liked my doctor. But then my doctor just randomly quit and this place didn't see fit to notify anyone until AFTER his last day. When I called to see who could refill my meds - NO ONE on staff was available to refill my meds. So, I started hunting for a new doctor because I certainly wasn't going to continue going here. Guess what, they sent this letter in October - most places first available appointments were in December. Which means I was without my meds for ONE SOLID month. Meds that you're not supposed to just cold turkey quit at all. No one cared. No one made any referrals to try and get it resolved but they're still after me to pay a bill that they were supposed to file on my secondary insurance. Oh, that's right - the continually forgot to do that and constantly tried to charge my card when I would go for a visit. It got to a point that I would turn off my debit card before I went because they just could not freaking remember to submit to the secondary insurance (which they said they took). Do yourself a favor and don't go here.”

“I had been going here for about 2 years mainly to just seek out medication for my anxiety and depression. I’m very busy and struggle to keep up with my appointments but they usual would call me to make a new appointment to renew my prescription when the time came. They never called me when the time came and my prescription ended up expiring. I called several times to get a refill/ make a new appointment and after several weeks of calling/ leaving a message and being with out my medication my anxiety symptoms came back and I started having negative effects from being with out my medication. I ended up going to the urgent care because my symptoms got so bad and I didn’t know how else to get my prescription refilled. When you work in psychiatry it’s important that your patients can get a hold of you. It’s very disappointing that I couldn’t even get a hold of them to refill my prescription/make an appointment when those type of things could have severe consequences and be dangerous for their patients to not receive the medication they need.”
