What patients say on Google

“My child's therapist was kind but we felt Like sessions were unproductive and more like he was a number, not a patient. and too much textbook and not enough actual experience with special needs children. Most of our visits were paperwork and not actually connecting or involving the child who needed services. we also had testing done for ASD and the evaluator CMH used was horrible. we told them of so many concerns (our oldest is on the spectrum and it was obvious this child is as well) and despite many markers for ASD, they said he did not have Autism because he "used his imagination." and they said he only had ADHD. we found a new provider and Therapist who noticed and questioned ASD before we even brought it to their attention. we were then referred to a Psychiatrist who diagnosed him with AUDHD (both Autism and ADHD.) we must learn that these can often coincide and not every child is a textbook case. My child could have gotten crucial help and intervention much earlier if they had taken the time to get to know him, instead of reading from textbooks, filling out paperwork and coming up with plans that didn't address anything. I know that CMH has nothing to do with the Evaluation but they did set that up. Maybe they have too big of case loads or maybe they are just too clinical but I was not impressed. These kid's deserve therapists that give them the time and attention they deserve.”

“I have gotten the best care. All of the therapists and doctors and social workers, and staff are amazing. They helped me get my life on track after having a series of tough events. I owe my success partially to them. I’ve gotten compassion and understanding and the support I was missing.”

“I’ve had amazing care here- I wouldn’t be alive without the treatment I got from here. Update: I will specify there are some great therapists here. The DBT program especially saved my butt. However, I’d never recommend the psychologists here.”

“Frankly, they blow. They don't care. They see you as mentally ill and so they think they're right and you're just a crazy person who doesn't deserve to be listened to. They will not listen to your complaints so don't even bother and just find somewhere else to go. The front desk people are crotchety. Do yourself a huge favor and search 'medicaid Midland Mi counseling' on google and go to psychologytoday. CMH is NOT the only place that takes Medicaid so don't feel hopeless.”
