What patients say on Google

“I went there about a month ago, and i was there for 2 weeks When i was at crisis the doctors there were so nice! I had to wait 3 hours to go up to the hospital, but it was ok bc the waiting room was full of fun stuff!^_^ They do a great job of making sure you get the help you need and keep you safe! Some of the other patients were kinda immature but i was in the youngest group so ig it makes sense.😓 A few other patients there rlly wanted to leave, but i personally loved it there:3 Parents, if you think you need to send your kid here, do it. They do their best to help you, and they provide food and hygine. "🗣️but you cant have phones!😡" silence. its for privacy reasons, and also you can ask to call your parents, and there are times when family can visit. "🗣️the staff is so mean!1!" no their not?? sure, they can be strict at times, but only when they have to be. overall, i had a positive experience. i defo reccomend for anyone who needs it. (shoutout to the night staff member who was super sweet and had a hello kitty hairclip and pretty nails, i forget her name😓)”

“i can’t even cap this jawn was tuff for a lil bit they helped me wit my psychosis. u get to make 1 call a day eat 2 times a day take medicine b4 bed. they gon ask you if u wan shower in the morning every single morning and the same thing for night time say yes yb. shower 2 times a day yb watch a movie if the staff on that type time listen to music if the staff on that type time. it’s girls and boys in the same unit but separate rooms and staff guard the halls u can only leave to get more medicine water or use the bathroom there is no going in other ppl rooms. its fun activities like tickets you can save up to buy products like expensive soaps teddy bears nd stuff but they give u free soaps. family can visit you u will be given 3 snacks a day like 1 single bag of cookies chips or wtv a day. showing better progress means you get out faster. i used to just freestyle and sing talk to the pretty lil crazy girls m i whooped one patient ( self defense) and i prolly been here like 3-4 times all with different time periods. like sometimes 3 weeks or even a month. it feel like it never end but only the real will never fold break or bend. i signed a 201!”

“I have no idea why people are saying this place is horrible. This is one of the best places for an adolescent in crisis. The only thing that was negative is how long we had to wait. All of the staff were amazing and thorough. I spoke with her therapist and psychiatrist every day giving me updates on her. I think some parents/kids think these places are supposed to be a 5 star hotel. This is a place to keep your children safe from harm. If you want a 5 star treatment, pay for a retreat on the beach or something that’s $200,000, out of pocket. There are other hospitals that are horrible in every way. Maybe they haven’t been to those yet to appreciate CHOP. My daughter said the food was ok and one staff member was rude and shouldn’t be working with mentally ill kids. Other than that, the stay was positive. The facility is clean and there are many things put in place to keep the kids safe. They do take your phones and purse/wallet at the intake, which I didn’t mind. Visitation hours are every day in the evening. They can call you around 4-5pm. If she has another crisis, I will be driving from NJ to Philly so she can stay there again. She will not go to no other facility because I don’t trust them with my child. I absolutely trust her in their care. You can send your child here. It’s not as bad as these people are saying. Another thing I loved is they aren’t allowed to have their cell phones at all. It gives their brain a break from social media and the negative impact it has on them. Highly recommend!!”

“i went to this place for a week and i loved it. Only thing i don’t really like is if you been there before and if the cops or whoever put u back over there, they will not accept you whatsoever. its a long waiting time to even go there. i was there for 48 hours before they decided to transport me to CHOP main hospital”
