What patients say on Google

“Dr. Smajkic has helped our child immensely. She is more focused and her emotions are regulated now she can stay in school and others can now see how amazing she is. At a time when we were felt we were being referred in a circle , Dr. Smajkic was able to help us.”

“Dr. Smajkic has been so helpful in dealing with Jonathan's issues. Over the years, medications have changed and he always keeps up until everything is going well. Jonathan is a challenge and I do not know what we'd do without Dr. Smajkic. Thank you, Laura”

“I was a child client back in 2019 after I got hospitalized after a suicide attempt. My parents trusted the words of doctors over my words every single time and when we started seeing Dr.Smajkic he immediately tried to diagnose me with ADHD and prescribe me Adderall. I was mostly seeing him for the anti-depressants I had just started but he was insisting I needed the Adderall within the first appointment. I was incredibly against it but he was so insistent that I needed it so my parents forced me to agree. I never felt good on the medication and would frequently tell him how awful the medication made me feel. It was hard to tell if it was the anti depressants or the adderal but I felt like I had just chugged 3 coffees everyday and was beyond numb, and I participated in self harming behaviors to try and feel anything, which he and my parents where aware of. He would always tell me that meant the dosage wasn’t high enough and would prescribe a higher dose. At some point I stopped taking my medication all together because my parents would force me to take it and everyday I felt like I was constantly high against my will. I hated how my heart felt like it was racing all the time but I also felt numb and like I could pass out at any moment. My parents didn’t care how I felt because the doctor said that a higher dose would fix it so why ever argue with the doctor. I would leave every session in tears. It took me a very long time to see another psychiatrist because of the trauma and the fear of not feeling in control while being medicated. I have since gotten over it and seen a psychiatrist that listens to my input and care. The reason Dr.Smajkic has such a high rating is because he listens great to adults and parents but if your a child he does not care about your consent or how you’re actually feeling.”
