What patients say on Google
“Very unhelpful. Family member had acute mental health crisis that landed them in a facility. The facility released them based on being able to go to Chestnut for outpatient. We were told they had walk in and were advised to go over immediately after discharge. Unfortunately, we had to check with insurance coverage first which delayed us and we didn't make it before close that day and it was Friday. First thing this morning (Monday at 7:15 a.m.) we called to confirm we could still do walk in today and were told that none of their locations have any walk in services and seemed confused we were even told that. When I mentioned that the facility he was released from literally put this in his discharge instructions I was told that wasn't correct and they do not have walk ins. OK, fine...can we still get set up to be seen then? Filled out the paperwork and sent it back via email while on the phone. They won't do anything until they have all your info. Once received then she said OK, let me see what openings we have to which I was then advised there are no openings this week. OK, what about next week? She explains that the way it works is you call Monday morning at 6:30 a.m. and they schedule you an appointment within 5 days and they don't do future scheduling. Ummm...do we not see the problem here? He was just released for a literal overdose attempt and we called at 7:15 a.m. on Monday morning and you're telling me that within 45 minutes EVERY SINGLE AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT all week is gone? You have no way to see someone who was just referred to you from a facility after a severe acute event? Apparently not because I was told, "Sorry, honey. Try to call again next Monday." No, I don't think we will (and please do not ever call me "honey" again!). We'll be looking for services elsewhere where he can actually get care because even if we did strike the lucky 630 Monday hour they seem to revolve around, there's no guarantee he'd get in from week to week and that is NOT STABILTIY and a mental health facility should know one of the #1 needs in mental health is stability. And also, please do not make people fill out forms and provide SSNs and other PII when you have no availability to even see them anyway. Now they've got multiple documents with full PII and we'll never even get in to see anyone there. Edited to update: when we couldn't get in, we called his primary care doctor for assistance. He, too, advised us to go to Chestnut's walk-in services. When we let them know we already did that, they advised us they do have walk-in and he needed to be seen there as a hospital follow up as instructed. We went to Chestnut again after that, again armed with instructions from a doctor and were again turned away and told there were no walk in services and no appointments available. Did I mention SO unhelpful!”
“I have been dealing with Chestnut since 8th grade. I’m 27 now. They have always answered the phone for me, and have protocols to get you in the same week of the phone call. I see Veronica, who is in Granite now. She is very straight forward. The only things i don’t like is the appointments are basically first come first serve. you have to call by 6:30 am to make an appointment, which will be scheduled that same week. Which is great for mental health. I have Bipolar 1, and Adhd. Was weird how i got prescribed an antipsychotic instead of medications that work well with my diagnoses. The one i was prescribed is mainly prescribed to Schizophrenia patients. Either way, i haven’t got any bad vibes from anyone there. I even still use the same Therapist i met at Chesnut in 8th grade.”
“I take my son to the belleville location, he sees a counselor there and sees one of the psychiatrist for his medication needs. We haven't had any issues since coming there. My son really enjoys going to see his counselor, especially on the days the weather is nice and they go walk and tall outside. The ladies at the front desk have always been nice and helpful. And since seeing his psychiatrist there has been a huge improvement with his moods and behavior at home and at school. As of right now I'm a happy mom seeing where he's at now versus a year ago.”
“Beautiful place nurses are nice , the woman that answers the phone to get you in the the system as a new client is my favourite don't forget Dr. Haley Jungle she is amazing along with her nurse Monica!!.”
