What patients say on Google

“I attempted suicide and was met with one of the worst mental health professional experiences of my life. I asked him if he even cared about me at all or felt any empathy towards me, to which he stated, "I don't see how that's relevant". He shared every single thing I said with my parents, even when it was completely unnecessary. He told them if I had access to pills I would take them all immediately, which wasn't even true at that point, not to mention how concerning it was to hear for my parents. Terrible. No child deserves this experience. It added to my suffering in an already vulnerable and painful time in my life.”

“Very poor mental health care expirience. I have been in the Akron Children's phyc unit multiple times and have not felt heard, listened to or understood by this doctor on multiple accounts. Alot of people can agree that during a crisis, feelings are complicated. I have responded before to a question of how am I feeling with "I don't know" and he had said rudely "you are not allowed to say 'I don't know'." And kept asking me to try to get a different response after throwing out the descriptions of my feelings? And acted like it was ridiculous of me to say? I was also in here for a psychotic episode previously where I was almost completely catatonic, hallucinating and most of the time unable to hear others (unless they talked a bit louder). Most of the month, besides for the end to get me out, he hadn't asked me many in depth or important questions to what I was dealing with at all. Should DEFINITELY NOT be written down that he "specializes" in psychotic disorders. It felt like they thought I was just not moving, acting unusual and not participating ON PURPOSE when I was PHYSICALLY UNABLE to participate because it was actually, really that bad. And having that feeling especially from this doctor shouldn't have been the case. Other times, he has completely misunderstood simple wording, has made MANY false assumptions and has poorly explained his reasonings for certain things. I am not a difficult patient, but it will come off that way when someone doesn't listen or I am in pain (physically and/or mentally) and you don't care... People should not be getting told that their explanations are not good enough after trying to commit suicide just because you don't like the answer/don't belive it, it should not be assumed that I am lying (Like I have been told) just because you don't know what you're talking about and I should not be in for a month because you failed to ask actual important questions. If I had to compare this doctor to anything, it'd be to an emotionless robot who has poor knowledge and barely, or if any, fellow feeling. The self righteousness displayed is horrendous. If humans can't understand even half of the brain right now, why do you think you know everything? If you're considering going to Akron Children's psyc unit, I'd recommend somewhere different... 1/5...”

“I was in a vulnerable state when seen by dr.brown I had just opened up about my SA through my childhood (2-8) he proceeded to call me a liar and say I was making it up for attention. I was 14..”
