“After SO MANY years of dealing with psychiatrist that wasted my time and pushed many useless, nonsense prescriptions on me, I'm very glad to have made the choice to leave WASHU psychiatry and transfer to this office. I read the reviews, and most of them were negative and said the same thing. "He's not personable." PERFECT! I'm very introvrted and closed off myself so I dont mind short, direct visits. So far I've had 2 visits. I wanted to wait a second time to get a real feel. Same vibe. First, his receptionist is nice. I saw reviews that she was rude. Didn't get that vibe. I even missed an appointment due to work, and I wasn't charged a fee and she was nice about rescheduling. No rudeness. As for Dr. Chalfant, he's direct, calm and gets to the point. He listens and he asks questions and he responds with options. That's all I want. He doesn't beat around the bush or waste time. He's direct and my appointments are quick. I spent years with other doctors being lied to, a guinea pig and science project for new, useless drugs, TMS procedures, etc. It was all a waste of time and money. My nervous system has been STUCK in fight or flight for over 18 years. Im exhausted with doctors that waste money and time of patient's that truly want help. He's the exact psychiatrist I hoped for! No run around, no BS, just straightforward solutions. People have to realize a counselor or therapist is where you spend time talking. A psychiatrist's position is to prescribe and monitor your meds and how well they work for you. It's not supposed to be talk therapy. It's solely about "Are the medications working?" After years of being unheard by other doctors and brushed off, I appreciate this office. I'm tired of talking and repeating myself. I just want help and so far, he's helping. Baby steps to make sure I'm on the right track but he's doing exactly what I hoped for, which is better than dealing with WASHU psychiatry's nonsense. I recommend him if you want direct answers, real help and straightforward visits. I have no complaints. My only complaint is not finding this office years ago. He may be curt or non personable to some, but my perception, he knows what he's doing and obviously has been doing this a long time. Even with my short visits I trust his direction.”
“Relative is a patient and going through a depressive episode. Dr Chalfant on Friday said he wanted my relative to double his medication. When I checked the dose, it's the same dose he was already on. Why doesn't Dr Chalfant know that? Then my relative had another appointment today and Dr Chalfant did the same thing with my relative's other medication. My relative is not doing well, and the doctor doesn't even know what he prescribes? This is ridiculous.”
“Had my first visit today (they got me in very quickly as a new patient as I was about to run out of my medicatiobs), the office got me in quickly and the receptionists we're very caring. I'm very happy with Dr. Chalfant since my last doctor up and retired without telling me. He is very soft spoken and he didn't make me feel like I couldn't say how I was feeling or anything. I will definitely recommend him.”
“Dr. Chalfant is an excellent Psychiatrist who cares about his patients' welfare and mental health. His sessions are short and to the point. You start with a couple of screening surveys. He only prescribes meds that he believes will work for you. People need to understand that psychiatrists are not psychologists or therapists. They care about your feelings but they are trying to diagnose your symptoms. Your feelings for them are symptoms and they have to look at them diagnostically. If you need meds they prescribe them and monitor your progress based on your symptoms. And adjustments are made. Dr. Chalfant does this exceptionally well. I have been seeing him since January 2020 and he has helped me manage my mental health. My symptoms have improved drastically and I am living a happier life. I would recommend him to anyone.”
