How likely are you to recommend Center for Autism & Related Disorders?
“For any new family just learning about ABA and new to the autism world: This place was okay overall. The staff was nice, and there were definitely some RBTs who genuinely cared about what they do and built great relationships with the kids. However, I personally would not recommend this clinic if your child is under 6 years old. The intake process itself was frustrating. The intake was done through a video call, and I was essentially expected to chase my child around the house with my computer so they could observe them. I found that difficult and unrealistic, especially when trying to get an accurate picture of my child and their needs. One of my biggest concerns throughout our time there was that all of their BCBAs were remote and joined sessions through iPad calls. In my opinion, this was not ideal for much younger kiddos who may benefit from having their BCBA physically present and involved in sessions. RBTs can also be hired with no prior experience and obtain their license while working on the job. I didn’t feel comfortable trusting someone not even experienced in the field to help my child at such a critical age for their development. We also experienced a lot of communication issues and multiple no call no shows, which became very difficult and frustrating for our family when we had long commutes only to be turned away at drop off. We ultimately moved to a clinic where the BCBAs are onsite and RBTs are required to have held their license for at least a year before being considered for employment. We have seen a huge difference in our kiddo’s development since making the switch. One thing that really stood out to us with our new clinic is how involved our new BCBA has already been. They are planning to travel to my child’s school to sit in and observe them in that environment so they can learn more about them, how they function outside of the clinic, and what they may need in different settings. That level of involvement would not have been possible at CARD because the BCBAs were remote. I want to emphasize that the staff at CARD were nice, and some of the RBTs truly love what they do. Unfortunately, for our family, the ongoing communication issues, staffing concerns, no-call/no-shows, remote BCBA model, and frustrating intake process became too much. The constant issues ultimately led us to seek services elsewhere.”
“CARD is a place that has helped many children/adults in many ways and I’m so thankful to be a part of their team. I can say from experience that CARD is a place that families can feel safe leaving their child and families can be confident that their child is getting the therapy they need. I personally love seeing the growth of old and new clients and again am so grateful to be a part of that change.”
“I give card a zero stars I started my intake process for my son to revive services in April 2021. In the last 7 months of me with them I had to constantly ask for updates about services for my child. At one point they just stopped responding to me. I reached out to multiple people With absolutely no response. I than had to call an office to get in touch with a district manager who told me they wouldn’t have services available until the end of October. Come the end of October I asked again for an update for them to tell me that they do not even have a team available. For which they have billed me for. I said I should not be billed for since they inconveniently wasted almost a year of my time where I could have been seeking help for my son elsewhere. Their lack of care and attention from the beginning for the cate of my child is just absolutely outrageous time is of the essence for children with needs and they should be more compassionate to the people who are trying to seek help. DONT COME TO CARD SEEK HELP ELSEWHERE!!!!”
“Our experience has been great!! My son started at card with many needs, and has been working very hard with his team, and in just one year we’ve ( family and I) noticed many improvements in behavior and communication”
