What patients say on Google
“First let me start by addressing the "elephant in the room." When I found Dr. Samake 2yrs ago, I did pay attention to the low rating; however, I didn't read the reviews until today. Reviews do help to an extent, but I am one that has to experience for myself because sometimes you can't believe everything you hear. Having said all that, here's my experience with Ms. Terry and Dr. Samake. I found Dr. Samake at a very vulnerable and somewhat unstable time in my life. I had spent months prior trying to find an African American, female psychiatrist in the area to keep from having to travel outside of the area. Dr. Samake and her assistant, Ms. Terry remind me of some of the women in my family (in a positive way). Dr. Samake was able to properly diagnose me, and regulate the medications that I was and am currently still taking. I made in know in the beginning about my qualms of seeing a psychiatrist, and not wanting to be medicated just because. My goal is help me find out what was wrong with me, and what did I need to do to properly treat the issue. My diagnosis lead me down a path of family research, and being able to help other family members that were dealing with similar issues. I can't speak for others and their experience with Ms. Terry and Dr. Samake, but I'm grateful that God led me to these wonderful ladies!!! And for those who had negative things to say about them not properly filing the insurance correctly. I'll leave you with this...for those of us who are blessed to have insurance, you must know and understand that medical offices are not required to file or accept the insurance. IT'S A COURTESY!!! And this is coming from someone who retired from health care.”
“I am honestly baffled by the bad reviews. It took me a long time to find a psychiatrist that made me feel heard and seems to care about getting me the help I need. I have not been in her physical office since everything is telehealth during the pandemic, but Dr. Samake and her office assistant Terry have both been nice and very helpful. I never had issues getting the appropriate paperwork sent to me. I see complaints about canceled appointments if paperwork isn’t done, but I don’t blame her for wanting all of it to be done in advance. The questionnaires and patient history forms are extremely thorough and she obviously goes over them before your appointment because she actually knows what’s going on rather than coming into the appointment blind like most doctors seem to do. I always felt like doing those questionnaires were a waste of time since no one seemed to actually look at them and asked the same things during your appointment, but Dr. Samake does review them. She is a busy woman and seems to run her office efficiently, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with canceling when important forms aren’t done in advance. You have to value her time if you want yours to be valued too. Terry made it very clear over the phone before I had my first appointment what needed to be filled out beforehand and if it wasn’t, I couldn’t be seen. She also let me know I could call if I had questions. Dr. Samake is very intelligent and knows her stuff, she’s also very matter of fact which some people might take as rudeness, but I’ve never felt like she has been rude or put me off. I’ve made more progress with her in 2 months than I have in years with other psychiatrists. I highly recommend giving her a shot if you are willing to follow instructions and get the information she requests before your appointment.”
“Dr. Wanda was extremely helpful. The front desk Walked me through the process and informed me to make sure I fill out all paperwork. And came in on time . When i came in i did the test, she let me know what my insurance would cover and what it wouldn’t . She truly cared for what i had to say about my past treatments and what medication i didn't want to take .”
“First telehealth visit today. I cannot say enough great things about Dr Samake. She is wonderful and got right to the point of things. She definitely knows what she is doing. Thank you for a great visit and getting us on the right path to helping my daughter!”
