What patients say on Google
“My daughter's medication management appointment was cancelled today right after starting (virtual). It was a medication management follow up, and i was not aware that my daughter needed to be present at the time of this virtual visit ( she is 5 year old, non verbal, can not communicate by herself anyway and the care team should know it by now). I attended the earlier appointment without my daughter as the care provider told me it was fine! So, i would appreciate a clear communication, detailed instruction prior to an appointment (virtual/in person).”
“My daughter saw a provider at Blackbird for some time. The provider was fine. Management, however, is despicable, unethical, and clearly motivated by maximizing their billings. This is a business with many locations, and in scaling up, they've cut corners in regard to actual customer service. I'd never take either of my kids here ever again. The owner has responded. The didn't care when I brought up my issues on the phone and over email, but now that I'm leaving negative reviews, they now care ... about the optics of it. They clearly take the image of their practice seriously. Too bad it ends there.”
“We love our healthcare providers here. However, staffing and administration? They make it impossible to just be comfortable with the practice. 1. The portal is unwieldily as some other reviews have stated; 2. If you use the portal for messages they are not reviewed by the provider directly… a “staff member” reads them and determines if they are worth sharing. Not only is this incredibly invasive because these are messages about your child’s health but these staff are not the provider that can triage appropriately! We sent a message that was incredibly time sensitive. Thank goodness after a week of not hearing anything I figured out how to get hold of our provider outside of that portal or otherwise it would have gone on without being addressed. This is just bad practice.; 3. Billing is unprofessional and aggressive. Received a mailed bill and a “urgent billing matter” message to my provider — same day (I have the postmark to prove it), for a charge from weeks prior, on a portal I’d already told them I can’t reliably access. That’s not a collections situation. That’s a communication failure dressed up as urgency to my provider no less. Imagine what that flags to our provider — like we’re deadbeat patients dodging bills for months, when in reality we hadn’t even received a first notice yet. That’s not just embarrassing, it’s a misrepresentation of who we are as patients. I’ve worked in children’s health for over a decade. I know what good practice looks like. Blackbird’s clinical staff clearly do too. Blackbird the organization is being run like a private equity operation, not a pediatric health system. Families deserve to know that before they walk in the door.”
“This was hands down the most thorough experience we have ever experienced for our son. He has never opened up and spoke to a provider the way he did today. The provider didn’t jump into any medication changes and is connecting him with more supports and gathering more information until the next time we meet. As a nurse I am very impressed! Our provider was Chris Aghedo.”
