“I got sent here a while back for suicide prevention and mental health issues. Honestly, majority of my time here was waiting as for one, they were pretty understaffed. For two, I don’t think during that visit, any of the staff had a positive attitude at all, they all spoke with the nastiest tone, and definitely didn’t seem like they enjoyed their job at all. I’m not really sure who I spoke to towards the end of my visit, but they kept threatening me when all I really wanted was to leave. I remember pretty vividly how they’d tell me in quotes, things like “we can physically restrain you, and drag you out of your own home if ____.” This was genuinely one of the worst ways I’ve been treated especially as someone who's into law and aware that first amendment rights are a real thing. Adding on to this, they kept threatening me with these topics simply because they wanted me to know the possible “consequences” for not showing up to my follow up appointments the weeks after. One more detail I forgot to add, most of the staff there are also pretty unprofessional, they seemed to either be exaggerating what I said, or downplaying it massively so the report could look better. Also, one nurse in particular kept sighing every single time I spoke as she seemed to think I was giving her an attitude when I just asked how long It’d be until I could leave or when I expressed that I really didn’t want to be in that environment anymore. To really conclude, I don’t think I’d ever want to come back to this place, and I can say with the least amount of exaggeration, this is probably one of the worst hospitals in the entire state, and I’d rather suffer in silence than come back here, which says a lot.”
“I don’t use the word hate because it’s a strong word , but I hate this hospital. Most of the “Staff” sucks and have attitudes all day. They stuck my fiancé in the wrong vein several times didn’t know how to use a needle and kept requesting other nurses for another size needle. The vending machines are a scam I tried to get a beverage and it charged my Apple Pay for 2 bottles and never received it. This is beyond unprofessional I’m disturbed and disgusted!!! I don’t even wanna give it a star but I can’t post the review without it.”
“I spent two weeks in the 21 North Adolescent Inpatient Unit this year. I want to share some of my experiences with the child & adolescent psychiatry program to hopefully give people an understanding of what it’s like: - The staff are excellent. The doctors and nurses provide top-notch care. - They offer visiting hours twice a day. This may surprise some people, but not all pediatric psych units let parents see their kids daily. Some only allow visitation once a week. Being able to see my family every day made a big difference for me. - They have an excellent understanding of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders and work very well with kids who have autism and co-occurring mental health issues. Unfortunately, I still would not consider it a suitable environment for kids on the spectrum because it is very loud, and the lights are very bright. If it weren't for the harsh sensory atmosphere, I wouldn't have had to transfer to another facility as quickly as I did. - The facility needs to be more sanitary. When they brought me to my room, vomit was all over the windows. The floors were sticky and gross. - A lot of the food is gross, but they let patients pick out their meals from a menu, so we could always pick out something we liked, like chicken fingers or pizza. They allow personal snacks to be stored in snack bins and the refrigerator and accessed at any time. I found this incredibly helpful because I have trauma with food being restricted in inpatient/residential facilities. - They have school on the unit, but I could not attend because they did not have the resources to accommodate my 504 plan. I require assistive technology for typing and spell check (I cannot write with a pencil due to a severe fine motor skills deficit, and I have a language disorder). I can only complete schoolwork with my 504 accommodations, so I rarely had anything to do during the day besides the infrequent but often fun recreational groups. Bellevue isn't a great place to be, but having been to eight pediatric psych wards and residential treatment facilities across the country, I can attest that it's still one of the best. I don't think parents should ever send their children away, but if they have to send them somewhere, Bellevue is the best place.”
“Bellevue Hospital’s Psychiatry Department offers essential mental health services with experienced professionals. While care is compassionate, patients often face long wait times and crowded conditions due to high demand. Valuable community resource.”
