How likely are you to recommend Behavioral Health Centers of Sarasota?
What patients say on Google
“We are very pleased with Dr. Selgado. My son loves her and her staff. They are always so friendly and warm. It truly feels family oriented. Dr. Selgado listens to my concerns and educates me where needed.”
“I wanted to clarify that I am an actual former patient of this office and was seen here as a minor. I have documentation of my visit through appointment records and insurance. I am not part of any “review bombing” or organized effort; this review reflects only my personal experience. I’m sharing this to help other patients, especially young people and their families, make informed decisions about their care. I also found it concerning that the Behavioral Health Centers of Sarasota responded to reviews in a way that could be interpreted as discouraging patients or former patients from sharing their experiences. In my view, statements that may be perceived as threatening legal action over honest patient feedback can feel intimidating. This is solely my impression based on their public replies. With that clarified, here is my genuine personal experience at the Behavioral Health Centers of Sarasota: When I visited this office as a young patient under 15, I felt very uncomfortable. The environment came across to me as dark, old, and confusing to navigate. The room I was placed in had a noticeable odor, and there was a machine noise that made the space feel even more uneasy for me. During my appointment, I personally felt rushed and confused. Very little was explained to me — why I was there, what the plan was, or what was being evaluated. After a short conversation, the provider discussed stimulant ADHD medications with me, specifically mentioning “Vyvanse or Adderall” as potential options. These are Schedule II controlled substances. I expressed that I was not comfortable with taking stimulant medication, but I still felt like the appointment moved in that direction before other approaches were discussed. The way information was handled during the visit also made me feel uneasy. I left the office feeling like my boundaries and privacy were not fully respected, although I acknowledge this is strictly how the experience felt to me as a minor patient. Overall, the atmosphere felt abrupt and not as supportive or reassuring as I would have expected, especially given how anxious I already was. Based solely on my personal experience, I felt pressured toward strong, controlled medications before I fully understood what was happening or before other options were explored with me. The environment and interactions came across to me as impersonal and uncomfortable. For these reasons, I personally would not recommend this office to patients who prefer a slower, more patient-centered approach, especially children, teenagers, or anyone who may be uneasy about starting medications such as Schedule II stimulants.”
“Dr Salgado is amazing! Has helped my son in so many ways compared to his last doctor. Thank you Dr Salgado”
“Big fan of how the professionals at this clinic handle a shy teenager. Step one: ignore her completely. Step two: aggressively push heavy medications like they're candy. Step three: throw a complete fit and yell slurs at her brother when he asks a basic question. I came in looking for a little peace of mind and left with a front-row seat to an adult temper tantrum. Truly a masterclass in medical care.”
