What patients say on Google

“This hospital is very caring and most of the staff cares as well. They try and help everyone they encounter but you have to use the tools they give you to succeed. They have an excellent mix of therapists, case managers, doctors, and nurses who makes sure your stay is not too unbearable. No one wants to be in a psych hospital but if you do have to go this place should be your choice compared to some other inpatient places in Cincinnati.”

“I was torn, but ultimately decide I would wait a month to post this to ensure my progress was sustainable, rather than just a temporary, positive boost from just finishing the program. The care in PHP is exceptional. I worked with a phenomenal, deeply passionate therapist, and the content we learned was genuinely revolutionary for me. The nursing education sessions were highly informative, and the psychiatric staff was incredibly understanding and helpful in identifying my specific needs. They provide fantastic strategies and tools that (when put into practice) have transformed by how I go about my life. My only concern involves some of the front desk and auxiliary staff. Interactions with them sometimes made it feel like patient needs were being disregarded. This was never personally; but anecdotally I noticed issues around accessibility needs not being met. Ultimately, the core program and clinical team are outstanding and deliver an experience that creates lasting, positive change. If you are seeking help, Beckett Springs is the place to support you in changing for the better.”

“On the sixth day of my hospitalization, I met with administration and expressed my concerns regarding multiple violations of federal patient rights and Ohio mental health patient rights regulations. I specifically identified concerns related to §482.13, including the Standards for Notice of Rights, Exercise of Rights, Privacy and Safety, Confidentiality of Patient Records, and the Grievance Process. I also raised concerns regarding provisions of Ohio Administrative Code 5122-14-01 including requirements related to services, treatment planning, informed consent and refusal of services, patient advocacy, communication of patient rights, and grievance procedures. I explained that I did not believe these requirements had been met during my hospitalization. Additionally, I expressed concern that within the first 24 hours of admission I did not receive what appeared to be a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, complete medical history and physical examination, or meaningful treatment planning. My interactions with the psychiatrist, medical doctor, therapist, and social worker were brief, and I was not provided with clear treatment goals or a comprehensive treatment plan until the day of discharge. During this meeting, I informed administration that my primary goal was to be discharged. Following that discussion, discharge arrangements were made immediately. If you have friends or family who is here or has been here, report them. It’s absolutely disgraceful the behavior they exhibit.”

“If you care about your family who’s going through a rough spot, I beg you to take them literally ANYWHERE but here. Staff constantly break the Patient Bill of Rights and state regulations by abusing not just the patients but also each other. I was personally put on two psych meds while having my antidepressant cut off cold turkey. They then doubled my dose after only 2 days, out of spite because I pointed out that the nurse controlling meds was breaking laws. I only was discharged after a week (care plan was completed and blood work looked good at day 4) because I would make it known that what they were doing was illegal and I’d bothered them enough. They lied about setting up after care that they signed paperwork for and cut me off cold turkey from the doubled psych meds yet again and I’ve just been to the ER. They will no longer pick up when I call from my personal number to ask for my files from my stay and they refuse to talk to me. Stay clear of this place. Everything they do is shady at best. (Edit) I’d also like to point out that the good reviews that they kept public here, I recognize as part of the staff at the facility, therein being part of the problem.”
