What patients say on Google

“Never put your older relative in the geriatric behavioral health unit. My mother was neglected and died in their care. I was allowed to go back and see her in her room when she was still anlive and she reeked of urine. I had to ask them to change her and it took several days before they bathed her. I visited once and found a terrible wound on her leg where they dropped her on the toilet. The day before she died there I visited her and she was very nauseous. I told the nurse about it and she ignored me. My mother was also floridly psychotic that day and her mental health was definitely worse than when she went in. Originally they had her in one of the furthest rooms from the nursing station. I begged the nurses to move her closer to them so they could watch her closely because she was 89 and was wheelchair bound . After several days they only moved her up a few rooms but not close to the station. I was in utter shock when they called me and told me she was dead. I went into that hospital to hug and cry over my mother’s dead body. The room felt like a tomb with a heavy door you could close so you could cut the person off and not hear them screaming. The main psychiatrist was on vacation the entire time she was there and I can only guess she wasn’t given the right medication. I had her heart checked out by a very competent cardiologist with a stress test a few weeks before she went in there and he assured me my mother did not die of a heart attack. When I went to see my mothers body, the main psychiatrist was finally back from vacation and met with me and said “We are sorry. We can only guess she died of a heart attack because of her age.” At the funeral home we had to cover her hands with a cloth because they were all bruised. I know I should have written this review sooner because this happened two years ago but I’ve just been so devastated by this, it has been all I could do to only have the strength to grieve her death.”
