What patients say on Google

“I went to get a autism evaluation there, and it was absolutely miserable for me. I never felt so judged in my life, and that says a lot. They were absolutely so judgemental to me because I didn't have the symptoms they "needed" (all based off of LITTLE BOYS WHO ARE AUTISTIC) I am a 16 year old girl!! And they only asked my dad anything about MY LIFE. I lived it!! Not him. I felt like I wasn't heard at all. I sobbed when I left with my dad, and I felt so embarrassed. I just wanted answers, but that answer just felt wrong to me, like the questions asked weren't actually for me, but for a boy. Please update your autism evaluations so it's actually beneficial for women who have been taught to mask their own lives.”

“This place has actively made my mental health worse. Shelley Lerch and Paula Copeland should not be working in mental health. They do not care nor do they actually listen. They will make their own assumptions, insult you, and then in front of you insult your family. On top of all that I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE BEEN TO MEDICAL PLACE IN MY LIFE THAT DOESNT TELL YOU CHARGES OR WHAT YOU OWE. I assumed with having an insurance they accepted, as well as being through the county that services would be more affordable than a private practice. Yeah that was a lie it was $250 for a visit for Paula to make her assumptions in 5 minutes and then immediately think she knows everything and that I would have only gotten better with hospitalization. There was no attempt to help. DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANY REASON. THEY WILL MAKE YOUR SITUATION WORSE.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an amazing experience for my first time at Barry County Mental Health. I was a bit skeptical going in because of some of the “bad” reviews, but I honestly did not encounter any poor service at all. Everyone was very welcoming, kind, and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. I came in for my intake appointment to receive therapy services and to see a psychiatrist, and I’m truly glad I did. If at any point someone doesn’t feel like the right fit for you, don’t be afraid to speak up—there are many caring professionals here who genuinely want to help. I highly recommend this place and will absolutely continue coming here. Thank you for giving me hope and support on my mental health journey. 💙”
