What patients say on Google

“Thanks to my wife from saving me from this horrible experance and a so called doctor. My husband’s treatment under Dr. Bulbul Bahuguna at Evanston Hospital’s locked psychiatric unit resulted in an extremely distressing and deeply concerning experience for our family. Despite my repeated objections to certain medications, my concerns appeared to be disregarded, and my husband continued receiving drugs that, in my view, significantly worsened both his physical and cognitive condition. When I transferred him to Alexian Brothers’ locked psychiatric unit, his condition was alarming. He was severely dehydrated, profoundly disoriented, and unable to recognize immediate family. The receiving staff immediately noted that he appeared heavily medicated and required an extended period of withdrawal to stabilize. The consequences of this experience have been long-lasting and life-altering. My husband continues to struggle with memory, concentration, and basic daily functioning. These impairments contributed to the loss of his long-term employment, placing a substantial burden on our family. Additionally, the environment within the Evanston psychiatric unit was highly troubling. Many patients appeared heavily sedated, pacing the halls in a dazed state, while staff presence and engagement seemed minimal. Much of the nursing staff remained behind a glass-enclosed desk, which did not convey a sense of active supervision or compassionate care. Based on my family’s experience, I cannot recommend treatment under this provider. The level of care we witnessed left us deeply shaken and has had a profound negative impact on my husband’s health and our entire family’s stability.”

“Misdiagnosed me as bipolar and prescribed inappropriate medication. Pressured me to buy her book. I feel like that's pretty unethical. Also asked me to push her book to my "girlfriends". If she had heard a word I said, she would know I have zero friends.”

“I had been looking for quality care from a psychiatrist who wasn't just there to prescribe medication, but to also genuinely check in on me and talk to me about things and feelings and whatnot. I was referred to Dr. Bahuguna by my wife's psychiatrist, and I am so happy with the care she provides. I see her biweekly, and she takes the time to check in on me, and she addresses my needs every session. She doesn't just ask me how I am, write on a prescription pad, and tell me to leave. She takes her time with me, asks me about the things going on in my life, and she listens to everything I bring up to her, offering sound advice that I take seriously and apply to my everyday life. As for her office, the setup is really great for privacy. The waiting room has a tv that's set to a good volume so you can hear it perfectly, and not hear anything in from her office. She also has two doors so you enter from one, and leave from another, which provides privacy for you and the next patient in the waiting room. You never see the next person, nor do they see you. If you need a psychiatrist you can trust, I highly recommend Dr. Bahuguna. I've been seeing her for about two years, and I'm very pleased with the care she provides.”

“I saw her years ago. She misdiagnosed me as bipolar because she never even bothered to ask about past traumas. She insisted I do an IOP and medicated me to the point I was having hallucinations. She took a year of my life with her irresponsible “treatment”. Each session she also would ask if I wanted to buy her book. She also only took cash or check - no insurance. So I was handing her $180 a week to make my life miserable.”
