What patients say on Google

“I would give 0 stars if I could. I had an absolutely horrible experience here. It was extremely difficult to get in with any of the counselors. If you work a normal 9-5, you should expect to wait 3-4 weeks between visits. The counselor that I met with continuously talked about themselves and their personal experiences, spoke over me when I was trying to explain something, and then gaslit me about a concern not being “that bad”. They also were suggested to me because they had a focus in chronic illness yet didn’t even know anything about a very common condition. The office/ scheduling staff were very unhelpful with scheduling and honestly rude. It seemed like only long standing patients can get appointments outside of the 9-5 work day.”

“I am so grateful to have found Avenues of Counseling and Candace! I felt supported by the staff when I called to make the appointment. They matched me with Candace and I haven’t looked back. I wanted to be seen for anxiety but have gotten so much more. I get tools that have helped me change my thinking when anxiety or stress hits hard. There isn’t a topic we don’t discuss (family, work, the past). I highly recommend giving them a try!”

“I can’t say enough about how much Candace has helped me. She’s supported me through past and ongoing trauma, anxiety, and low self-esteem, and encourages healthy ways to manage stress. Her genuine kindness, compassion, understanding, and ability to make me feel safe and heard are such amazing qualities of a great therapist. I’m so grateful for her continued support and guidance.”

“It is very hard to get counselors to actually show up. I was mostly Telehealth meaning most of my appointments were virtual unless the counselor requested an in person. My first counselor I never got to see because, although I THOUGHT I filled out all the appropriate paperwork (gobreeze is very confusing), I was called just a few minutes before my session and was told if I didn't get them filled out they would not be able to see me. I was out of the house at the time and not able to access the documents on my phone so the appointment was cancelled. My SECOND therapist saw me 3 of the 8 scheduled appointments. The rest she cancelled due to illness so I stopped seeing her. I took a short break after that because I was so distraught but finally summoned the courage to call again for a THIRD therapist. I scheduled this 3 weeks in advance and this morning, less than an hour before my scheduled appointment, my therapist cancelled AGAIN due to illness. Can you imagine if I had only given an hour notice for cancellation and not the required 24 hours? I again, never had a chance to meet her. When you're dealing with people who are having a mental crisis, big or small, I just don't think this is the appropriate way to handle their situation. I can speak from experience and say, this has completely thrown me into a spiral, each and every time and I am, once again, not trusting the process.”
