“I’ve been a patient here since December, and I want to make it clear that the doctor and therapist I see are exceptional. They are compassionate, knowledgeable, and the reason I continue receiving care through this practice. If this review were based solely on my providers, it would be five stars. Unfortunately, my experience with the front office and billing department has been the complete opposite. For the past three months, I’ve dealt with ongoing billing issues that have caused unnecessary stress. I was initially told I owed a balance, only to later receive a call apologizing and explaining it was a clerical error. I was told to disregard it. Months later, another balance suddenly appeared. My credit card on file was also charged before I even checked in for appointments. While I understand having a card on file, patients should be asked at check-in if that is the payment method they wish to use. I have since removed my card to prevent unauthorized charges. The biggest issue involved an insurance claim that Blue Cross Blue Shield explained had been submitted incorrectly multiple times. Once BCBS identified the error, they corrected it and released payment to the practice before my next appointment. Despite this, I was told the office had not been paid. Before a tele-health appointment, Rebecca informed me that I had to pay the balance that day or I would not be seen. She also advised I would be charged a $100 same-day cancellation fee if I canceled. Feeling I had no choice, I paid over $100 for a balance that my insurance company confirmed had already been resolved. Nearly three weeks after my Explanation of Benefits showed payment had been made to the practice, I still have not received a refund. Instead, my account now reflects yet another balance in a different amount, despite paying every copay and my insurance confirming all covered claims have been paid. Throughout this process, I called repeatedly, left voicemails, and sent emails. None were returned. When I questioned the balance in person, I asked for an explanation and a printed copy of my billing and payment records. I was told they could neither explain the balance nor print my billing records. Instead, I was handed a blue sticky note listing three balances. One was a copay they claimed had been declined by the CC company, but I immediately showed proof through Apple Pay that it was never declined and had cleared my credit card a month earlier. I was then told it “sometimes takes time to process.” I also requested to speak with the office manager multiple times and was always told she was unavailable but would call me. That call never came. After three months, I have still never spoken with the office manager. The most disappointing part isn’t the billing mistakes. It’s the lack of accountability, communication, and compassion from the front office. Even after I provided information from my insurance company showing the issue had been corrected, there was little effort to investigate, and the responses felt dismissive and unapologetic. Rebecca’s tone made me feel as though I had done something wrong by questioning a balance that was ultimately tied to an insurance processing issue outside my control. She sounded offended I was challenging the balance and irritated she had to speak to me. I’ve noticed other Google reviews mentioning billing concerns. I can’t speak to anyone else’s experience, but mine has taught me to carefully review every EOB and request detailed billing records, including CPT and diagnosis codes. I now choose tele-health whenever possible simply to avoid interacting with the front office staff. As a mental health provider, to those already suffering mental hardship, anxiety and depression, I sincerely hope the administrative side improves because the excellent clinicians deserve a front office that demonstrates the same professionalism, transparency, and compassion.”
“Don't do spravato here. The entire system is unprofessional and ever-changing. They CONSTANTLY change hours and appointment days (which if you work, is a grave inconvenience in and of itself). If you do not meet their criteria the day of treatment, they will not refund you for the money spent on ubers (because you can't drive before or after treatment), they won't refund you for the unused medication AND they will not refund you for paying for the appointment that wasn't an appointment because you were not treated. I urge you to find somewhere else that has a more concrete schedule and issues refunds as opposed to stealing your money just because your blood pressure is too high one day as a side effect of a medication THEY put you on. I am not one for posting rude reviews it's usually a waste of time but considering the thousands of dollars and countless hours of my time I have invested in spravato and psychiatry here only for all of this to transpire has led me to want to emplore others to explore any other clinic for Spravato. Preferably one that has been providing the treatment for years, so they are more established in their schedules, routines, etc. I tried my best to be patient and understanding but someone needed to say this to warn others of what they are getting into. Unless you are retired, unemployed, or a kid who can miss school, this is not worth the constant mental, physical and financial inconvenience. I would've have been better off completely unmedicated than spending the last 2 years here for psychiatric and spravato treatments. Please, go somewhere else.”
“As someone who has seen quite a few doctors over the years, I can truly say my experience with Dr John Louis was wonderful. He took the time to listen to me, answered all of my questions, and made me feel comfortable and understood. The staff was very kind and welcoming, and the office itself is absolutely beautiful and calming. It is not always easy to take the first step with mental health, but I feel very reassured that I am in good hands here. I am grateful to have found this practice and would highly recommend Dr John Louis to anyone looking for a thoughtful and compassionate psychiatrist.”
