What patients say on Google

“We’ve been doing couples therapy at Ammirati Counseling for almost a year, using the Gottman approach, and it’s made a real difference for us. Terri is direct, firm, and isn’t afraid to challenge us when we need it, which has honestly been one of the most helpful parts of the process. You can tell she has many years of experience and knows exactly when to push and when to support. Our communication has improved a lot, and we’re better at working through conflict instead of getting stuck in it. We’re really grateful for the progress we’ve made and would highly recommend Ammirati Counseling to couples who are serious about doing the work.”

“I do not recommend this therapist or this practice for couples therapy. Although she claims over 30 years of experience, our experience reflected the opposite of professionalism or care. During multiple sessions, she displayed a condescending tone, made shaming comments about our inability to schedule weekly appointments (despite services being fully out-of-pocket and costly), and even used her phone during sessions. She also failed to follow standard ethical procedures; such as obtaining a signed Release of Information before referencing our individual therapy work with other therapists in the same practice. The most serious issue occurred when we were charged directly for a claim that insurance was already in the process of paying. The practice had submitted the claim incorrectly several times, yet when we contacted her as the treating therapist and business owner to request clarity, she responded by yelling, talking over us, and escalating the situation to the point of inducing a panic attack. She stated she would issue a refund once insurance paid her. Insurance did pay, but weeks passed with no refund. It took multiple calls to insurance, filing a formal complaint, and having the insurance agent contact the therapist directly for her to eventually process the refund; three months after the initial charge. At one point, when we attempted to follow up, she told us she was “not interested in talking” and hung up the phone. This behavior is not only unprofessional but harmful, especially for clients seeking mental health support. We have since switched to a new practice with therapists who are ethical, kind, and competent: a night-and-day difference. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this therapist. Clients deserve to feel safe, respected, and supported, not shamed, dismissed, or financially mistreated.”

“I've been seeing Terri for a few months now. She's been very helpful to make me realize who I am and whom I want to become but have a trouble with. She has a great experience, she helps to guide me in my difficult decisions. Sometimes she tells me things I don't want to hear (even though I know them), she is straight forward, caring, not judgmental. I would highly recommended her and her staff for anyone in need of a counselor.”

“Terri was a terrific therapist. She gave constructive feedback and offered additional tools and programs to grow my knowledge with relationships and communication. She personally helped me to reflect on my behaviors and gave me insight when I was feeling lost. She’s not afraid to dig in with you and she doesn’t sugar coat it either! So if you are really willing to self reflect and figure out how to get out of your own way…. Book a session with her. You might feel some growing pains but I promise you won’t regret it. There are other very skilled therapists at this practice as well. I’ve heard good things about Justin too.”
