How likely are you to recommend Alabama Psychiatry & Counseling?
“They randomly charge your card with no billing statements to say what you owe. My card was charged on numerous occasions and of course they had to send it back because things weren’t accurate. You didn’t hear this from me but apparently his wife is in charge of the billing department and does this VERY often. One of the employees told me to keep my card locked at all times. This is absolutely INSANE!”
“Horrible experience. DR. RABBANI is the rudest medical professional I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. I have a history of ADHD. When I received my diagnosis at the age of 35, it was life-changing. I remember thinking "is this how the rest of the world views projects, work, discipline, and anything requiring focus." I finally understood myself. Unfortunately, I needed a fresh start after a few years of not taking my medicine. Dr. Rabbani only looked at forms that I filled out (which only ask questions regarding anxiety, depression, substance and physical abuse) and had less than one minute conversation before refusing to prescribe Aderral. I even told him it didn't have to be that particular med, if that was his concern. He made me feel like I was drug-seeking and was very argumentative. He said I was diagnosed too late for it to be accurate, that ADHD is only diagnosed in young people!!! He says I dont have ADHD, that I have anxiety and depression. I asked how did medications help me in the past if I dont have ADHD. His answer was that cocaine would help, but that didnt mean I should take it. When I questioned further for understanding, he said "I cant make it any clearer that I wont prescribe Aderral." He would not take a look at the medical records I had sent to his office. He only made an assessment based on a skewed questionnaire that I filled out when I was stressed. He asked "do you have any other medical issues *glances in my direction* other than being overweight." I told him I have sleep apnea which can cause the high blood pressure I'm having, but that its currently untreated because my insurance deductible is too high. He immediately questioned "oh you have money for Aderral but not to fix the root cause of your high BP." Aderral is $15 a month vs. $5000 for diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea. He accused me of refusing his treatment plans when I told him my insurance deductible is too high for therapy. No attempt was made to understand why I feel I have, or why two previous Psychiatrists diagnosed me with ADHD. He clearly does not understand ADHD because zero questions were asked once he honed in on anxiety. I have trouble focusing, forgetfulness, executive function paralysis, trouble with every-day conversations, eye contact, hyper fixation and other BASIC symptoms. He did not ask about any of this. I genuinely felt like this man thought I was trying to "score" some meds. He mentioned people sell it on the street and made a cocaine reference twice. I will take a drug test if you want!! I feel that he took one look at me and made an assessment. Overweight: must be trying score adderral to lose weight. Why would a PSYCHIATRIST be so confrontational? I feel attacked. Dr. Rabbani does not understand financial strain and is very judgmental and condescending. These are not good attributes for a psychiatrist.”
“Dr Rabbani was terrible. Does not listen and is not receptive. Constantly shut down any concerns I had and downplayed all my issues. Very unprofessional and inconsiderate. Very short with me and felt as he has no regards for mental health. 0/10 would not recommend for anyone needing true help. Also refused to give me previous prescribed adhd meds and im struggling daily in life and school. Told me “I am not giving you adhd meds. You do not have adhd, you need to lay off the pot.” Even though I have proof of diagnosis. DO NOT SEE DR RABBANI”
“Thought I had found the perfect place but unfortunately I was wrong the doctors was trying to pressure me to using his counselor. I have had a counselor since 2023, he refused to use any medical records from her. Mind you her skills are good and I didn’t feel comfortable going to a new therapist, he tried to down play my feeling of having symptoms of ADHD, he talked over me wouldn’t listen etc it was a very bad experience and it truly hurtled my feeling, what happen to doctors listening to their patients. So now the search continues. I will have to find a new psychiatrist who will listen to me. I don’t even want to take meds from anxiety but he he didn’t listen to my concerns. I don’t recommend at all. Very unprofessional doctor.”
