What patients say on Google

“We had the worst experience with the office staff at Advantage BehavioralHealth. They refused to see patients unless the patient paid upfront. My relative had a hospital referral and was scheduled to be seen, but when we showed up after waiting for two hours, the front clerk told us they had to reschedule us because they could not verify whether they would take our insurance or not. We came back for our 1st appointment with the psychiatrist, and another office staff told us whoever scheduled my relative the appointment did not schedule enough time. The patient needed an hour instead of 30 minutes, so my relative might have to reschedule! How can this place operate in such a non-professional & ludicrous manner? It’s scary that this place provides mental health treatments for people in our community!!!”

“A nurse lied to me about the details of your prescription relief program. I originally had my prescription placed locally as the office/pharmacy Advantage uses is too far for me to go to on my own. I am disabled and do not drive. For multiple reasons, I was extremely uncomfortable with how my psychiatrist treated me during my appointment, notably that when we were discussing treatment options she didn't make me aware that the prescription that she was recommending was unaffordable to me after we had discussed my concerns over an inability to pay. I asked to have a new appointment with a different doctor with that as my reason, and asked whether there was an option to ask her to issue me a generic prescription instead. The nurse who spoke to me on the phone told me that the pharmacy Advantage uses has a contract with them, and therefore would be able to help me get my prescription cheaper. I asked her to clarify how and she told me this would be by prescribing me a generic, because they "researched alternatives." I told her this wouldn't be acceptable for me. I asked if the program would allow me to see a different pharmacy, and she said no. I kept saying that this was unacceptable as she kept trying to describe to me what a generic was and how having a generic would save me money. Eventually I told her I was unable to drive and that's why I couldn't go to Advantage pharmacy, and she said that I "should have told her," which I don't feel is appropriate. I should not have to disclose an ability to drive, I should be able to simply say, "this pharmacy is not an option for me." I called the pharmacy to find out more and it turns out that this isn't the case. The nurse did not tell me the truth. There is a program that I can APPLY for that will help me pay for my $200 - $900 a month antipsychotic, but as the pharmacist explained to me, almost every pharmacy would default to dispensing generics. My options now are 1) hope the new psychiatrist who I'm seeing is more understanding of my financial needs and has a respectful dialogue with me about what medications I can afford or 2) find a different provider. I would appreciate if someone reached out to me about this before I find a new provider.”

“I am still a patient at this place and am frustrated beyond belief. I have now been off my important medications for over two weeks now because I had a conflict with my Dr appt and they could not get me in for almost a month. As a result of them not being able to schedule my appt for so far out, they would not provide my medication until having seen the provider. They would not allow me to walk in for an appt in the A.M. like everyone else because I'm already in the system and have an appt scheduled. The lack of concern or willingness to figure something out has been mind-blowing. There are reasons to come here, but receiving competent, compassionate mental health care is not among them.”

“First, I want to say this, I’ve never had a problem with the staff at the front of the office, they’ve always been very understanding and willing to help. They’re genuinely wonderful. However, the nursing staff thinks way too highly of themselves. Specifically the charge nurse, who’s name I won’t mention. Not only does she give false information, she’s extremely rude, unprofessional, and narcissistic. It doesn’t matter if she’s around patients, she will be as rude as she pleases. And will always make sure to tell you she’s the “charge nurse” as she tells you a patient his x problem, and when in fact, is totally wrong. The nurses here really need to check themselves. Bravo to the rest of of the staff, I appreciate all of y’all’s hard work, kindness, and patience. Y’all are the backbone of this place, and it’s very welcoming to see people who actually care.”
